Kinesiologists in Canada are part of a growing, evolving profession supported at both the provincial and national level.

The Canadian Kinesiology Alliance (CKA) works in collaboration with Provincial Kinesiology Associations (PKAs) to support professional standards, continuing education, and national advancement of the profession.

Getting Started & Professional Requirements

Professional Insurance

Professional liability insurance is a standard requirement for practicing kinesiologists across Canada. Requirements and coverage options may   vary by province.


Provincial Kinesiology Associations (PKAs)

Kinesiologists are represented provincially through PKAs, which establish membership requirements, standards of practice, and regulatory alignment within each jurisdiction. The CKA is a national federation of these provincial associations.

Affiliation with CKA

There are three ways for Kinesiologists to join the CKA, depending on the province or area in which you practise as a Kinesiologist. Academics and students are also welcome to join.


Practice & Professional Standards

Code of Ethics

CKA’s Code of Ethics outlines the professional and ethical expectations for kinesiologists in Canada, including responsibilities to clients, colleagues, and the broader healthcare system.

Continuing Education (CESP)

Kinesiologists participate in the Continuing Education Standards Program (CESP) to maintain current knowledge and uphold professional competency.

Professional Resources & Materials

CKA provides tools and materials to support professional practice, public awareness, and national initiatives. Resources may include promotional assets, practice guidance documents, and campaign materials.



Client Reimbursement & Receipts

Coverage for kinesiology services varies across provinces, insurers, and practice settings.
